The tour is scheduled to hit three days in April. Celtic Sisters in New Baltimore is scheduled for April 12 and 13 and Children With Hair Loss will be on April 16 in South Rockwood.  The last stop, Kitty Deluxe, will take place on May 1 in St. Clair Shores.

Prom is not only one of the most memorable nights for many young ladies, but also one of the most expensive. Dresses sell from $500 to $800, and some even land in the $1,000 price range.  Not to mention the additional cost for shoes, jewelry, hair and makeup. And that’s exactly why the Prom Closet Project is here.

According to president and creator of Sparkle Network, Moe Lietz, it was very common for young ladies to borrow prom dresses in the 80’s and early 90’s.

“It wasn’t uncommon for me and my friends to ask family or friends to use a dress they wore and we loved (it),” she said.  The Prom Closet Project brings this tradition back with hopes of giving away at least 50 or more dresses.

Lietz said she and the rest of the Sparkle Network team hope to continue the tradition for several years.

“I love seeing the looks on the girls faces when they have ‘the dress’ on, and you can just tell that’s the one for them,” Lietz said.

An appointment is needed to attend the events. Those interested can send an email to [email protected].
