Donation Information for Dress Programs
##REMINDER ON DRESS DONATIONS
We noticed dresses that were purchased from the clothing store DEB keep trying to be donated. The store closed 19 years ago (2007 they went out of business) and the dresses are NOT HOLDING up like we’ve talked about. Picture below of what age DOES to the dress insides especially plastics/elastics and this is why dresses need to be in the last 5 years.
Prom Closet Project & Dress into a Dream Program–Donation information
DONATIONS–
WE DO NOT HAVE SET DATES OR LOCATIONS.
Our locations are generally in Macomb and/or Oakland County.
We set up times in mid-Summer (June/July time frame and has already occurred for 2025) or Winter (December/January) completely opposite of when spots & appointments are made to not confuse families.
We have VERY LIMITED space for our items so we have to see a lot of kids to be able to take more.
If you are a business interested in being a collection spot, please contact us via the contact us option in the main menu.
Information on sizes needed for this program:
Over the last 5 years we have seen a trend in our young ladies needing sizes 14 and up.
Formal dresses are created in what is known as “bridal sizing”. These formal dresses are created in many layers and typically a person needs to go up at least 2 sizes from their normal every day stretchy clothes cause these dresses have ZERO give because of the materials they are made of.
We are always looking for dresses in this size range because less than 10% of what typically is donated in falls in this range. This is the same for shoe sizes. Looking for 9 and up dressy shoes too.
WE have a HUGE THANK YOU to the Rotary Club Of Rochester, MI who gave us a grant to help us get dresses and shoes in these size ranges.
We can’t THANK this organization enough. As we travel in Spring 2026 we will proudly display a sign honoring what they made possible.
